July is the month I love to celebrate being Canadian. I fly my flag, wear my shirt and remember all the fun family parties with food and fireworks. May you also find something joyful in your life to celebrate today.

With enthusiasm and anticipation, Daryl

This time of year a lot of people are not thinking about how they will challenge themselves. Most of us are looking for ways to relax and take advantage of vacation time. And then there is our local hero Tom Williamson.

Tom likes to set personal challenges for himself and has done so more than once. For his 50th birthday he rode his bike from Sarnia, Ontario to Halifax, Nova Scotia. Now, on June 29th, 2007 he received a true hero's welcome as he arrived home in Tobermory to a large and lively crowd. Tom left Victoria B.C. on May 15th and along with his buddy Adrian, cycled more than 4500 kilometres. It started out as an acknowledgement of his 60th birthday and soon included a way to raise money for a new health clinic. There's no doubt when you see Tom's smile that he is very proud of his accomplishment. (See Tom Williamson)

Setting a challenging goal for ourselves can mean pushing our physical, psychological and emotional limits. But it's not very satisfying if all we do is just think about it. Every one of us has some seed of a challenge inside of us; something we openly ... or secretly ... would love to make happen. It may not be as big as a cross Canada bike ride but for us, it is challenging enough to make us a bit giddy when we roll it around in our minds.

So what are we waiting for? In this moment, as you read this article, there is no better time than right now to put the wheels in motion. How do I know? Because if you are not actively doing something ... no matter how small ... you are not moving towards your dreams.

What I know for sure is that the fulfillment that comes with reaching your goal is life changing. Just like a child who finally rides their bike around the block alone, they can now visualize someday riding right across Canada.

As a coach, I love working with clients who see something more for themselves. Why? Because I do too. I challenge myself over and over again to do the hard thing, take the risks, make the effort and be a little scared. I love the adrenaline rush of a personal challenge and invite you to get coached to success. You can count on me to cross that finish line with you!

QUESTION FOR THE MONTH: What will you do right now to take a step towards your vision?
My friends and clients at the Toronto Chapter of the IAAP are working hard to bring an inspiring educational program to Administrative Professionals. I'm delighted to be delivering a workshop during this event alongside many talented facilitators. If you are looking for an outstanding learning opportunity please visit their webstie for more information. See you there! Toronto IAAP
