DarylDid someone say March? The trouble with February is that it is such a short month I barely get used to writing it when it's time to move on. March signals something new. Imagine all that is possible for the days and weeks ahead.

With enthusiasm and anticipation, Daryl

“At fifty, the madwoman in the attic breaks loose, stomps down the stairs and sets fire to the house. She will no longer be imprisoned.” Erica Jong

MAD WOMEN - STEP FORWARD! I am looking for you.

It has occurred to me that there is a unique segment of the population that, when I coach them, I get VERY excited. They are "mad" women and they are hanging around the 50 mark! There's something profound that happens on the approach, the landing and the other side of 50. I believe it's that point in time when our lives come into sharp focus and we face our "selves" with astonishing clarity.

Some women dive under the covers and pray it will pass. Others grind to a screeching halt and say "I've had enough ... I want change!" I love those women! I love them because they just know there is more to living than what they are experiencing. They no longer want to tolerate what drains them of energy. They are dying to feel alive.

In my coaching practice I've watched these women spark romance, ignite creativity, fire up their careers and blaze a trail of purposeful living wherever they go. These are women who know that a hot flash is a signal to fan the flames of their dreams. I was once told that depression can be eliminated if you change the first two letters to "ex" ... expression! Who knew?

So before you think you have to buy a parachute or join a cult, let me say that being a "Mad" Woman means something different for each of us. No matter what, these women have big smiles, big hearts and big imaginations. They are equally fearless and terrified of the unknown that lies ahead.

Life is too short to feel sick, bored, frustrated, angry, lonely and bitter. If this all sounds weird to you, have a good chuckle and move on. If you are a "Mad Woman", you'll know exactly what this means. Take a leap of faith ... I've got your back!

QUESTION FOR THE MONTH: What's the mad longing that is simmering in your soul?
Something new on my website! Recently I set up a special page on my website to showcase the books that I recommend. I'm often asked for suggestions and here you will find what I am currently reading and books that I have enjoyed. I'll be updating this regularly and encourage you to browse through for some inspiration. Check it out: My Book Choices

“I've arrived at this outermost edge of my life by my own actions. Where I am is thoroughly unacceptable. Therefore, I must stop doing what I have been doing.” Alice Koller
