DarylIt IS Spring and the last lumps of snow are melting deep in the bush. It's the time of year for cleansing, decluttering, airing out, rejuvenating, replenishing. It's also the time for planting seeds of inspiration and cultivating your most ambitious dreams.

With enthusiasm and anticipation, Daryl

A few weeks ago I stood on the ferry dock on Vancouver Island looking east. I scanned the horizon and saw only mountains and oceans. My destination was my home in Tobermory, Ontario a mere 5,000 km away.

Waiting for the boat to arrive I thought how curious it was that I knew where I was going and with the help of a rather vague road map, how I would get there. But I couldn't actually see Tobermory. In that moment I was reminded that sometimes we can't see the place we will ultimately land and yet we trust that we have the tools to get there.

Personally I am very impulsive and somewhat of a "quick start" person. Much to the dismay of my family and friends, I have been known to get an idea and run headlong with it even though I haven't examined the potential outcome. Sometimes I just know I want to do something and in the moment it feels right. When I am energized with passion I don't need to see the finish line. The result is that I've launched a great many projects and learned a lot in the process. Not all my ventures are wildly successful and yet I always learn and I always end up somewhere worthwhile!

Often when I talk to clients about the big visions for their lives there is some hesitation. What I hear is that they can't "see" themselves in the place they imagine. And for some, they are not certain they even know how to get there. I've watched as people make detailed lists and endlessly analyze every option. Their fear of moving ahead without assurance of a safe arrival leaves many standing at the ferry terminal for months, years and lifetimes.

Some people can't see beyond their immediate circumstances and either choose not to or deny that they can imagine a bigger game. No matter what, when someone begins to move, things start to change. And change is what it's all about. Just like driving onto the ferry I started the momentum of my long journey. Cities, towns and provinces whisked by. Rocky mountains, deep canyons, rolling hills, and familiar terrain all led me eventually home.

When the driving got tiring, the key for me was holding in my mind the vision of where I saw myself at the end of my trip. In this case, I knew what it looked like. Sometimes I don't. Sometimes I have to create the images in my mind in order to keep them alive. What I know for sure is that Coaches provide a powerful partnership to support anyone who has a destination and is willing to start skimming the waterways towards their dreams.

QUESTION FOR THE MONTH: What is waiting to be launched in your life?
What if you could really change the thoughts that are driving your behaviours? Imagine what might be different in your life? Learning the Emotional Freedom Technique from my colleague Jackie Hofmann has given me a portable and effective tool to deal with any number of circumstances in my life. I invite you to watch a short video "EFT: A Universal Healing Aid" by Gary Craig, the founder.

"Vision is the best manifestation of creative imagination and the primary motivation of human action. It's the ability to see beyond our present reality, to create, to invent what does not yet exist, to become what we not yet are." Steven Covey
